Position Highlights


The College of Medicine's Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology (OBGYN) provides comprehensive clinical care for women while conducting state-of-the-art research and outreach to local, rural, and international communities. Be a part of a team that is dedicated to providing excellence in the specialty care of women. We are seeking a Clinical Research Assistant to join our SensorLab research projects team.


This position will provide research assistance for the SensorLab Seed Grant studying the effectiveness of wearable technology to reduce obesity in pregnant women. The study will investigate the use of Fitbit in pregnant women to explore the feasibility and data collecting capabilities of the device with a long-term goal of using the Fitbit as part of intervention-based research to limit weight gain in pregnancy and improve pregnancy outcomes.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Assist with the screening, recruiting, and enrolling participants for the SensorLab research projects following the IRB-approved study protocol. Screen and evaluate participants for eligibility. May present trial concepts to the patients.
  • Use multiple modalities for participant recruitment including telephone calls, emails, and community outreach to increase study awareness and subject enrollment.
  • Obtain informed consent and compliant documentation of research activities.
  • Maintain highly detailed and accurate records, organize data, and prepare for computer input and analyses.
  • Follow up with participants about surveys and questionnaires after recruitment.
  • Provide administrative support by preparing and maintaining regulatory documentation including IRB submission and approval of new or revised protocols, safety reports, and progress reports.
  • Assist as a patient resource for troubleshooting concerns and questions about the Fitbit research project.
  • Provide education materials and training to study participants.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Detail orientated with solid communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work autonomously.


Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent, or equivalent learning attained through experience required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
