Job Description

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Planning
  • Collaborate with Senior Management on financial business plans, forecasts, budgets, and capital purchases.
  • Assist in the development of performance measures that support the company’s strategic direction.
  • Maintain financial budgets and forecasts; report actual results compared to plan and provide insight regarding variances.
  • Partner with outside consultants and company owners on financial and tax strategies.

Financial Information
  • Prepare timely and accurate monthly financial reports, ensuring compliance with GAAP and internal policies.
  • Provide complete analysis of financial results, including recommendations to correct unfavorable variances.
  • Collaborate with Senior Management on operating metrics relevant to managing the business.
  • Ensure timeliness, accuracy, and usefulness of reporting for all external parties (creditors, suppliers, outside accountants, consultants).

Accounting and Administration
  • Manage the accounting department to ensure proper maintenance of all accounting systems and functions.
  • Manage the HR department to ensure effective processes, compliance, and support of company culture.
  • Maintain appropriate internal controls and financial procedures.
  • Coordinate audits and ensure proper filing of tax returns.
  • Review and assist in all month-end closing activities, including general ledger maintenance, balance sheet reconciliations, and corporate/overhead allocations.
  • Manage cash balances and cash forecasts.
  • Collaborate with management on financing strategies and banking relationships.
  • Oversee accounts receivable management and support collections activities.

Team Management
  • Mentor and develop direct reports and their teams to be highly engaged and performance-driven.
  • Establish clear expectations of job duties and goals to drive top performance.

Other Ownership Projects
  • Assist in property investment and development strategies and planning.
  • Work with outside tax and financial consultants on estate and succession planning activities.

Education, Training, and Experience

Required

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting
  • 3–5 years of experience in accounting or finance management
  • 3–5 years of people management experience

Preferred

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
  • Experience in dealership or similar industries
  • Oversight and leadership of financial operations

Tools, Equipment, and Software

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office (including Outlook).
  • Experience with accounting software and point-of-sale software preferred.

Travel Requirements

  • Local day travel may occur.
  • Occasional overnight travel is expected.
