At J. Cumby Construction, we are a fully licensed general contractor based in Cookeville, Tennessee, specializing in water and wastewater treatment facilities, pumping stations, and a diverse range of commercial and industrial construction projects.

Job Summary:

We're seeking a dedicated Truck Driver to join the J. Cumby Construction team. As a Truck Driver, you'll be responsible for operating a truck and lowboy trailer, handling oversized equipment configurations, and efficiently loading and unloading equipment. Prior heavy haul experience in a construction setting is highly valued. Your role will involve transporting oversized loads while ensuring full compliance with permits and safety protocols. Additionally, you may be involved in loading and moving equipment using tilt deck and lowboy trailers. We'll provide comprehensive training to operate other vehicles and configurations as needed. When not on the road, you'll assist in organizing equipment and parts at the JCC shop.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Safely drive the truck to designated destinations.
  • Conduct thorough equipment checks during transit to ensure compliance with DOT regulations, prioritizing safety and security.
  • Efficiently load and unload equipment.
  • Bring experience in hauling construction equipment to the role.
  • Provide support in equipment organization and shop duties as required.
  • Perform pre and post-trip inspections, checking truck equipment and supplies like tires, lights, brakes, gas, oil, water, and fluids.
  • Ensure the truck is clean and in optimal working condition, taking ownership of its upkeep.
  • Verify accurate loading and securement of materials, cross-checking shipping documents for precision.
  • Maintain a detailed driver log adhering to J.C.C. and DOT regulations.
  • Submit paperwork and ticket information to the office on a weekly basis.
  • Hold and uphold a valid CDL and comply with DOT regulations throughout your tenure with J. Cumby Construction, Inc.
  • Maintain a clean driving record.
  • Experience with dump trucks and construction equipment is a valuable asset.
