Job Description

DIRECT HIRE: A fantastic opportunity for an experienced Barge Operator in the Naples, FL. area.  This is a Residential/Light Commercial position, for 30ft. barges .  The successful candidate will be responsible for the operation of marine construction barges and hydraulic cranes in the construction of docks, seawalls, and boat lift installation under the direction of the Project Manager or President of the Company. Operation is performed in a knowledgeable, safe, and effective manner following safety rules and techniques.

Rate of Pay: $30hr - $40hr (depending on experience)
Work Type: Full-time + OT

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OVERVIEW:
  • Strong knowledge of marine construction barge operation, waterway navigation, equipment maintenance, and maritime regulations
  • Crane, excavator, and other heavy equipment operation
  • Oversee and optimize all aspects of vessel operations including vessel scheduling, mobilization and secure storage while adapting to project changes and weather conditions
  • Manage the schedule and conduct maintenance, repair, and inspections for barges and related equipment in the fleet
  • Implement maintenance plans that maximize vessel and equipment reliability and minimize downtime
  • Monitor barge performance metrics and identify opportunities for efficiency improvements and cost savings
  • Ensure timely and cost-effective procurement of spare parts and supplies for the fleet
  • Identify and schedule vendors and internal maintenance crew to assist in M&R activities
  • Comply with all relevant maritime regulations, industry standards, and company policies
  • Conduct regular inspections to identify and mitigate potential risks
  • Provide guidance and training to vessel crews on procedures, protocols, and regulatory requirements
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills, with the ability to actively listen to the concerns and ideas of the barge crew
  • Effectively communicate management decisions and initiatives and motivate team members
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to addressing operational challenges, soliciting ideas, and implementing solutions
  • Lead by example, showing humility, team support, and a get-it-done attitude
  • Duties, responsibilities, and activities may change or be supplemented at any time in response to organizational needs
