Position Overview:
The salary range for this position is $163,100 - $307,800. 'Off-scale salaries' and other components of pay, i.e., a salary that is higher than the published system-wide salary at the designated rank and step, are offered when necessary to meet competitive conditions, qualifications, and experience.


Description
Asst/Assoc/Full Professor of Clinical Diagnostic Toxicology in the California Animal Health & Food Safety Laboratory System (CAHFS) and Department of Molecular Biosciences, School of Veterinary Medicine (SVM), University of California, Davis. The successful candidate will be in residence at the CAHFS laboratory on the UC Davis campus. The current base pay range is $163,100 - $307,800. Other components of pay may be offered when necessary to meet competitive conditions, qualifications, and experience. The successful candidate is responsible for diagnostic toxicology throughout the four laboratories that comprise CAHFS. Emphasis will be placed on the diagnosis of toxicoses affecting the livestock and poultry industries, animal production and food from animal sources as well as wildlife and companion animals. Interaction with veterinarians, livestock producers and regulatory agencies is an integral part of this position. Must be innovative in the application of veterinary toxicology to the solution of animal health problems and contribute to the development and improvement of diagnostic procedures. Scholarly use of diagnostic case material including publication of results in peer reviewed publications is essential. The successful candidate will have clinical and limited didactic teaching responsibilities to veterinary students, graduate students, and residents. University and public service through committee work, participation in professional organizations, continuing education and other appropriate means is required.

Requirements
DVM or equivalent degree required, advanced degree in toxicology or closely related field preferred. Board certification or eligibility by the American Board of Veterinary Toxicology (ABVT) required. Appointment renewal to the 4th year requires ABVT board certification. Clinical experience and competence in veterinary toxicology preferred. Demonstrated aptitude/experience in teaching desired. Interest in collaboration in toxicology research desired. The successful candidate must have: i) excellent interpersonal and communication skills to effectively communicate with veterinarians, producers, government agencies and other clients; ii) client-focused, service-oriented approach to diagnostics; iii) demonstrated ability to work with others in a collegial team atmosphere, and iv) demonstrated (or potential) commitment to diversity and inclusion in the workplace.
