ASSISTANT PHOTOGRAPHER

Madhappy is a Los Angeles-based clothing brand made for a community of optimists, born in 2017. Madhappy uses apparel, events, and experimental retail spaces – including its permanent flagship in West Hollywood – to explore a personal expression as a means to an improved state of mind. Its own seasonal stores – with past and present locations including New York City (Soho), Aspen, Miami, East Hampton, and Tokyo – are each designed to reflect their site, while still sharing the brand’s DNA. The brand currently produces a selection of ever-evolving, evergreen classic styles, seasonally available collections and collaborations. Madhappy supports research and awareness in mental health through The Madhappy Foundation (a 501c(3) non-profit) and writes Local Optimist, a print magazine. Each to celebrate us as works-in-progress, and the personal and collective expression that is a part of that.

About The Job

We are looking to hire a highly motivated and detail-oriented full-time Assistant Photographer for Madhappy.

The ideal candidate has a strong eye for fashion photography, understands the nuances of brand storytelling, and is eager to contribute to the creative vision of Madhappy. This role will support the planning, execution, and delivery of photo assets across campaigns, e-commerce, social media, and editorial projects. This role reports directly to the Photographer.

You must be based in Los Angeles to be considered for this position.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in planning and executing photo shoots across campaign, lifestyle, studio, and e-commerce settings
  • Ensure that all products are prepped ahead of shooting. Steaming, lint rolling, removal of loose threads, etc
  • Support the Photographer with shot lists, lighting setups, equipment management, and on-set organization
  • Retouch, edit, and deliver photos in a timely manner while maintaining consistency and quality
  • Collaborate closely with the Content, Design, and Marketing teams to produce content that enhances product storytelling
  • Maintain photography equipment and studio organization
  • Stay up to date with fashion, cultural, and visual trends to bring fresh perspective to projects

Qualifications

About you

  • 2+ years of professional photography experience, preferably within fashion, lifestyle, or e-commerce
  • Strong portfolio showcasing fashion/editorial and product work
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Lightroom, Photoshop, Bridge)
  • Understanding of studio and natural lighting, composition, and color
