HERE’S WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING...
Conduct routine environmental reviews related to water rights applications in accordance with state statutes, rules, policies, and guidelines for the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ).
Perform or participate in routine special projects as directed, such as drafting drought reports, completing SB2 activities, and maintaining vehicle/equipment.
Communicate/interact with agency staff regarding water rights, environmental reviews, Texas Instream Flow Program and assigned drought-related activities. Attend meetings with the regulated community concerning statutes, rules, policies, and environmental reviews. Respond to written correspondence through established procedures.
Provide support in the resolution of contested permit applications; prepares for and attend Commission agenda meetings, alternative dispute resolution proceedings, and public hearings before an Administrative Law Judge or the Commission. Attend public meetings. Participate in preparing responses to public comments and related documents.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a major in a natural science such as biology, zoology, wildlife/fisheries science, toxicology, environmental science, or a closely related field. These degrees must include nine semester hours in statistics, limnology, ecology, hydrology, aquatic ecology, ichthyology, benthic ecology, wildlife biology, invertebrate biology, entomology, toxicology, phycology, marine science, aquatic chemistry, aquatic pollution, or aquatic microbiology.
OR
A bachelor's degree plus two years of full-time experience in environmental activities related to the examples of work performed.
