Job Description

Skillsearch is helping an Irvine-based games studio find an Animation Engineer to help create engaging in-game gameplay and cinematic experiences. This full-time Animation Engineer role is based in Irvine, CA, and offers an attractive salary and benefits package as well as remote working options.  

As an Animation Engineer, you will work closely with the Leads of Animation, Design, and Engineering to create visually stunning and memorable in-game moments. The Animation team has its own onsite state-of-the-art Motion Capture Studio to give animators the advantage of creating animations quickly and the opportunity to innovate and develop new techniques for capturing motions.  

In your first few weeks in this Animation Engineer role, you can expect to:  

• Build optimized, sustainable and maintainable technologies to help solve game driven animation problems  
• Implement tools and technology for the rapid creation and iteration of animation content  
• Work with the animators and technical artists to support their needs and ensure a powerful and easy workflow  
• Foster a culture of open, honest, and respectful communication across all disciplines.  

To apply for this flexible role, you will need excellent C++ skills and knowledge of UE4 and especially its animation systems. You will also require the following:  

• Knowledge of animation concepts such as Inverse Kinematics, physics-driven animation, root motion, layered/additive animation, and facial animation  
• Professional experience working on current-gen consoles or PC  
• 2+ years' experience in integrating animation features for gameplay or similar roles.
